As called for in the Consensus, a follow-up intergovernmental process has been sent in motion and a standing secretariat - The Financing for Development Office - has been established in the Department of Economic and Social Affairs (DESA) to support the process. The Follow-up International Conference on Financing for Development to Review the Implementation of the Monterrey Consensus will be held in Doha, Qatar, from 29 November to 2 December 2008.[more]

CONGO follow-up to HR multilateral bodiesAs main counterpart of NGOs interacting with the UN, CoNGO is strongly committed to defending human rights worlwide. The input of NGOs is more needed than ever now since over the years, and thanks to their extensive lobby and advocacy, the Human Rights Council and its subsidiary bodies have become a fora where NGOs have the possibility to participate.[more]

Meeting every four years to set the organization's mandate and work priorities, Ministerial conferences are UNCTAD's highest decision-making body. UNCTAD Ministerial conferences also serve an important political function: allowing intergovernmental consensus building regarding the state of the world economy and development policies. UNCTAD XII was held in Accra, Ghana, 20-25 April 2008 and will focus on the following general theme: "Addressing the opportunities and challenges of globalization for development".[more]
