We are advocates for
Sustainable Development as defined in Agenda 21, adopted by the UN Conference
on Environment and Development: environmental protection, social development
and economic growth, and as incorporated into the Johannesburg Plan of Action
adopted at the World Summit for Sustainable Development, and as incorporated
into the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) adopted at the Millennium Summit.
We build understanding of how the many parts of the United Nations system
promote sustainable development.
We participate in the relevant meetings and conferences of the United Nations,
and in particular the UN Commission on Sustainable Development, including
sponsoring Side Events.
We explore the ramifications of development funding and promote funding initiatives.
We interact with the UN Commission on Sustainable Development (UNCSD), UN
Environment Program (UNEP), UN Development Program (UNDP), World Health Organization
(WHO), World Bank, Global Environment Facility (GEF), World Trade Organization
(WTO), UNESCO, UN Foundation (UNF), The Fund for International Partnerships
(UNFIP), Global Compact, NGOs, Think Tanks, Academia, and other civil society
organizations.
