The United Nations Non-governmental Liaison
Service (NGLS) provides NGOs with advice, expertise and support
services on the development initiatives and activities of the UN system.
NGLS works with NGOs engaged in development and related issues as
part of the UN effort to strengthen dialogue and win public support
for economic and social development. NGLS provides information, advice,
guidance and various forms of support to the UN system and to NGOs
wishing to be more involved with the UN system's deliberations. NGLS
is not a membership organization, but works with the NGO community
on an informal basis. It has no procedures for the official registration
or recognition of NGOs within the UN system.
