African Civil Society Forum 2007

AfCSF 22-24 March 2007, Addis Ababa, Ethiopia
African Civil Society Forum 2007
The Conference of NGOs in Consultative Relationship with the United Nations (CONGO) and the African Women's Development and Communication Network (FEMNET) organizes in cooperation with the Economic Commision for Africa (ECA) and the African Union (AU) the African Civil Society Forum "Democratizing Governance at Regional and Global Level to Achieve the MDGs" to be held between 22-24 March 2007 in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. The purpose of the Forum is to bring together representatives of national, regional and international NGOs from Africa to explore the most effective ways to partner with and impact on African institutions: the African Union, the UN Economic Commission for Africa and the New Partnership for African Development (NEPAD). This Forum is part of CONGO's outreach program, in which - in the past five years - we have organized civil society fora (twice in Asia and once in Latin America), aimed at bringing the UN agenda into the regions and the regional input back to the global level. The African Civil Society Forum 2007 will therefore raise NGOs' awareness of the issues on the UN agenda, most notably the Millennium Declaration and the Millennium Development Goals.
