2nd Asian Civil Society Forum 2004
The CONGO Working Group on Asia convened and organized the second Asian Civil Society Forum (ACSF 2004) in Bangkok from 21 to 25 November 2004. The Forum was conducted with the cooperation of the local hosting organizations coordinated by the Asian Forum for Human Rights and Development (Forum-Asia) and UN agencies such as UN/ESCAP, and the offices of the UN Development Programme (UNDP) and the UN Environment Programme (UNEP) based in Bangkok.
The ACSF 2004 constituted a follow-up to ACSF 2002 as well as an essential element of the regional preparatory process for the "NGO Forum for Millennium+5" held in 2005. It also served as the main regional forum for a discussion on follow-up to the UN High-Level (Cardoso) Panel on UN-Civil Society Relations. It provided an opportunity for discussion and strategic planning among civil society organizations, networks and coalitions with regard to forthcoming global issues and events expected beyond 2005.
