This de-briefing is designed to give all participants an opportunity to take stock of and reflect on the outcomes of the 4th session of the Human Rights Council, and to have a forward looking perspective on the next steps. In particular, a specific attention will be given to the institution building activities following this session and to the long term perspective of NGO involvement and inclusion in the Council.

An encounter with experienced human rights practitioners on how the UN human rights system functions (or not) to help NGO representatives to better approach and use the Council. Questions and - hopefully - answers on anything and everything you ever wanted to know about the Human Rights Council and its mechanisms but were too afraid to ask.

NGO Orientation Session, 19 March 2007, 13:00-15:00
The OHCHR, CONGO and the ISHR will organise NGO Orientation Sessions during the 4th session of the Council, taking place on Monday 19 March 2007.
The orientation session will provide NGO participants with practical information
on the Human Rights Council, in particular:
- Presentation of the evolution of the main human rights intergovernmental
machinery, and brief update on the institution-building process of the
HRC;
- Update on specific organizational matters of the 4th HRC session
(including timetable & modalities);
- Where to find information on HRC sessions and other HRC related
activities;
- Discussion on challenges & opportunities for NGO participation within the
Council.
