31 May - 2 June 2006: General Assembly Special Session on HIV/AIDS

From 31 May - 2 June 2006, governments will convene at the United Nations in New York to report on progress they have made toward implementing previous commitments to decrease the spread of the HIV/AIDS epidemic. Informal interactive civil society hearings will be held on the morning of 31 May at the invitation of Jan Elliason, President of the General Assembly.

In addition to the hearings, civil society representatives will be invited to participate in the roundtable discussions and the resolution encourages Member States to include in their delegations representatives of civil society from their respective countries from various sectors, including people living with HIV/AIDS.
